Nanluoguxiang introduction
Nanluoguxiang, also named South Luogu Lane, is
one of the oldest alleyways in Beijing. It 80is an 800-meter long
North-South alleyway with cafes, bars, and shops all designed in
classical Chinese 'hutong' style. With a history of over 800 years,
Nanluoguxiang has become a hotspot of attraction reported by Fashion
magazine. Tourists from abroad regard it as a must-see attraction in
Beijing. With a length of 800meters (2624 ft), Nanluoguxiang has 16
Hutongs running across from south to north; 8 in the east and 8 in
the west. Lots of officials and celebs have been lived here since
Ming (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1636-1911). Historical marks can
be found in every Hutong here. Nanluoguxiang is among the first 25
areas listed as historical sites by Beijing Municipal Government in
1990. With its impressive historical reputation and cultural
influences, Nanluoguxiang has become a popular attraction in
Beijing.
The lane is now famous for the cafes and bars and
clothing and handcraft shops that line its hutong laneways as well
as its traditional hutong and courtyards (siheyuan). It is another
bar area besides Houhai Bar street, Workers’Stadium and Sanlitun bar
street. Nanluoguxiang is a perfect blend of past and present. This
street is more famous oversea than at home! It is much quieter with
reasonable prices.
The tempertation to see Nanluoguxiang was soo great. Personally like
nighttime more than daytime Nanluoguxiang. Nanluoguxiang is located
between Gulou Dongajie (Drum Tower East Street ) at its north and
Dianmen on Ping' an Dajie at its south.
The north starting point of Nanluoguxiang is just next to No. 108-2
Gulou Dongdajie ( East Drum Tower Street )
Many tourists enjoy taking ride through this
800-year-old hutong that was once home to celebrities, officials,
artists and well-off families. There are well over 20 restaurants
and 40 shops scattered along Nanluoguxiang. |
